The feeling of his body against hers, his smell, his heat... All of it was driving Valerija crazy. Than he was gone, stumbling backwards as if he needed to force himself to let go of her.

For a long moment they stared each other into the eyes. She saw his passion, his need... but also his reluctance and stubborn pride. Than he simply turned and walked away.

Without thinking, she was casting a fireball and threw it into his direction. It crashed against the wall next to the door to her balcony, leaving a black and burned spot. “Don’t be a coward!” she hissed.

Fenris had frozen, but did not turn to her and continued his way on the balcony instead.

“You don’t dare”, she whispered and was following him against all odds, knowing that he would be able to hear every single word she said. Snowflakes were dancing around them in a wild dance, getting caught in Valerijas hair, melting on her heated skin, while she was staring at Fenris’ back. “Turn around!!”

He neither reacted to her demanding words, nor did he do as she had told him. Instead, he jumped in an elegant movement over the balustrade and landed in a crouched position on the ground, rarely making any sound. After he got up, he finally looked at her and was slowly raising his hand.

The dagger she had used for the ceremony was lying in his palm; the dagger she had created with Sandals help, lasting weeks; the dagger with a rune so valuable that she would not be able to replace it from one day to another.

Her gaze shot to his eyes. They were looking at each other, both stubborn and unyielding.

“You don’t dare”, she whispered again.

A small, challenging smirk appeared on his lips when he heard her words. “It’s only for your best, Hawke. Believe me!”

And with these words, he simply turned and left.

She was staring at his back, trembling with anger, speechless due to discomposure. Then her eyes narrowed, and her hands were clenching into fists.

He wanted war?

He could have it!
